The INTERBOA campaign is an experiment to study auroral precipitation from stratospheric balloons, in conjunction with scientific satellites. This campaign utilised payloads and instrument which were previously flown on the 1996 INTERBOA campaign. The participants in the project are:
Two balloons were successfully launched during this campaign. The first flight was from 13:53 UT August 25, 1998 to 4:31 UT August 27, 1998 and the second flight was from 17:43 UT August 29, 1998 to 14:52 UT August 31, 1998.
