Welcome!hometwila

I am a PhD graduate student at the University of Washington in Seattle. My primary interest is glacier dynamics and climate change, and I'm affiliated with a variety of groups at UW.  My home department is
Earth & Space Sciences
and I also have an office in the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL).  The latter houses the Polar Science Center (PSC), the group that I work with.  My advisor is Ian Joughin, who
moved to APL in fall 2004 from the Jet Propulsion Lab.  I'm also an
active member of the UW Program on Climate Change.

2007 Graduate Climate Conference
Since fall 2006 a group of students from the Program on Climate Change, including me, have been working to organize the 2007 Graduate Climate Conference.  This conference will be held October 19-21, 2007 at the Pack Forest Conference Center south of Seattle, WA.  Given the success of the 2006 Graduate Student Climate Conference, we are expecting stimulating conversation, a range of interesting research presentations, and the possibility for students to develop collaborations with others from around the country.

We are seeking applications and abstracts from graduate students around the nation (and the world!) who are interested in climate change.  There is no cost for the conference and some travel scholarships are available.  Check out the website for answers to all your questions!

Abstract and Application Deadline:  May 15
