April 30: Read Paper by Bucknam
et al. on the Seattle Faul t and answer these questions by April 30.

May 2: Read pages 2-1 to 2-9 of Prothro and Kelly: Chapter 2: Elements
of a Science Investigation .
May 7: Read Yeats Chapter 7 (You should have read Chapter 5 by now as well).
May 9: Read Newspaper article by Berkland and paper by McNutt and answer questions in writing that will be the basis for discussion on Friday. (The papers and questions will be handed out in class Wednesday. Let me know if you can't make it to class so you can pick up them up before Friday).

May 23: By Friday May 23, go to the Odegaard Library A/V center
and watch the NOVA movie "The Day the Earth Shook" which is on reserve there.
Answer these questions: quake_movie_questions
and turn them in on Friday May 23. The movie should be ready by Friday,
